FAQs
springtide psychology
What can I expect in my first session?
The first session is an 80 minute assessment session to get to know you and gain a thorough insight into your presenting concerns. We will holistically explore all aspects of your life and functioning. The first session may occur with your caregivers for some or all of the session, depending on your age and reason for referral.
Is my problem bad enough to see a psychologist?
Early help-seeking and intervention is so important for all difficulties clients may experience, and talking therapy is beneficial for mental wellness and general functioning. Go to the Contact tab to make an enquiry.
What are the fees?
Springtide Psychology is a fee for service practice. Fees vary for different services and are payable at the time of your consultation. The Australian Psychological Society recommended rate for psychological services is currently $300 per 50-60 minute session.
When an appointment is booked the time is set aside for the scheduled client. If you need to reschedule, we require at least 48 hours’ notice via phone or email. Late cancellations and missed appointments will incur 50% of the fee for 24-48 hours notice and the full session fee for less than 24 hours notice. Fees charged for late cancellations and missed appointments cannot be claimed through Medicare or private health funds.
Occasionally unforeseen circumstances may occur. In these instances, we will discuss the individual circumstances with you.
Can I claim a rebate for therapeutic services?
Medicare rebates under the Better Access Initiative are available by first seeing your GP for a mental health care plan.
Private Health Fund rebates may be claimed if you are not claiming a Medicate rebate depending on your private health cover. Contact your private health fund for further information.
Eligible NDIS participants may use allocated funds for psychological services.
Will my information be private and confidential?
Every effort is made to ensure that client information is securely stored via Cliniko practice management software and via online assessment software for educational assessments and questionnaires. Paper information is securely stored in a locked filing cabinet. Information may be shared with other health professionals with client and/or caregiver consent, and where a subpoena has been received. Confidentiality will be discussed further in your first session.
Is Springtide Psychology for me?
Developing a therapeutic alliance, the right therapist-client fit is essential to the therapeutic process so that clients feel comfortable to speak freely about their concerns. At Springtide Psychology we encourage clients to communicate any concerns about the therapeutic process to promote rapport and positive client outcomes.
